Abstract

Behcet's Disease (BD) is a multisystemic vascular inflammatory disease with a variety of clinical manifestations. The objective of our study is to describe intracranial aneurysms, an extremely rare but nevertheless severe complication of BD and to review the clinical features, the course and the treatment of this lesion. We are reporting the case of a 44-year-old male. In the absence of other disorders, the diagnosis of BD was made based on the presence of recurrent oral aphthous ulcers and positive human leukocyte antigen (HLA-) B51. An ancient ischemic right capsulolenticular lesion was discovered on MRI, as well as subacute white matter hypersignals in the left capsule lenticular region and several artery aneurysms. The patient was treated with systemic high-dose corticosteroids and immunosuppressive medication for two months, which resulted in significant neurological deficiency upon admission and severe impairment upon discharge. Twenty case reports of cerebral aneurysms in BD were found after a thorough study of the literature.
